William Alfred
Anderson
Sep 25, 1959 — Apr 22, 2026
William Alfred Anderson Jr. was born on September 25, 1959, to Carolyn Johnson and Billy Anderson. He was the first of eleven siblings. Five children were born to his mother Carolyn and father Billy—William and his sisters Stephanie, Angela, Rhonda, and Melva. William was also blessed with a close loving bond with his additional siblings Michelle, Shabaka, Billy, Kanika, Andre, and Breanna, all of whom he held close to his heart.
William was raised in Pacoima, California, where he attended Pacoima Elementary School, Maclay Middle School, and John F. Kennedy High School. As a young boy, he was active in sports, playing football for the Valley Chargers and running track during his school years.
At an early age, William married Michelle Richardson, and together raised five outstanding sons: Shon, Damon, Charles, Derrick, and Adrian Anderson, all of whom have grown into remarkable men. Later, William married his beloved wife and life partner, Rebecca Anderson. Together they were blessed with three beautiful children: Chante, Caprice, and Byron. Over the years, their families became one, creating a loving home for all eight children. William was also a proud grandfather to eleven grandchildren.
Will was a hardworking and skilled man. He began his career in carpentry under the guidance of his grandfather Joe, who took him under his wing and taught him the trade. He later learned welding and became a welder, eventually working for the City of Los Angeles Waste Management for over seventeen years. In time, he became an entrepreneur, founding his own business, “Will’s Way Transportation.” His sons and daughters worked alongside of him, learning the family business and the value of building a family legacy, that they continue today.
Will loved his family deeply and found great joy in bringing everyone together. He was known for hosting gatherings at his home, where he would marinate, barbecue, and smoke his famous brisket. He was a leader, provider, protector, and mentor—offering guidance, stability, and discipline not only to his children but also to his nieces, nephews and second cousins, many of whom lovingly referred to him as “Uncle Jr.” He generously shared his skills and wisdom with anyone willing to learn. He was a father figure to many.
He also loved to travel and vacation with his loved ones. He especially enjoyed relaxing on tropical islands or visiting Las Vegas, where he could often be found at the craps table, enthusiastically teaching others how to bet on the pass line and “the hard ways.” His motto was simple: “You got to get your money.” He spent countless hours coaching youth in various sports and was a devoted fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers, LA Lakers and Los Angeles Rams. He had a passion for collecting and restoring classic cars and enjoyed listening to oldies while relaxing outside with family and friends.
William knew the Lord, accepted Him as the leader of his life, and was baptized on September 16, 2007, at Parks Chapel AME Church alongside his son Byron. As a faithful member of Parks Chapel, he served wherever he was needed. Many knew him as Becky’s “wingman,” always ready to help—whether delivering food, setting up tents, or assisting with clean-up. Together, they ensured their children were active in the church and raised with strong Christian values.
Will was preceded in death by his father, Billy Anderson, and his mother, Carolyn Dunwoody and his Aunt Marilyn. He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife, Rebecca Anderson; his sons Shon (Derek), Damon, Charles, Derrick (Ariel), and Adrian (Karla); his daughters Chante and Caprice; and his son Byron. William leaves behind his beloved 11 grandchildren: Darrin, Millana, Mia, Alyssa, Mikyla, Nulani, Naomi, Anela, Halo, Sebastian, and Evelyn; his siblings: Stephanie Perkins (Alfred, deceased), Angela Cash (Roy), Rhonda Anderson, Melva Crawford (Frank), Michelle Farmer (Tony), Shabaka, Billy (Terri), Kanika, Andre, and Breanna, as well as his sister/cousin Lonnie and brother/cousins, James and Jack Macon.
William also leaves behind forty-one first cousins, being the first nephew among the cousins born to his twelve aunts and uncles, along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, his beloved church family Parks Chapel AME Church, and many, many dear friends in the community.
Well done, good and faithful servant. You have fought a good fight and finished your race. Your legacy of love, strength, and faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved you.
