Obituary

Leroy Elliot Roberson was born on October 5, 1936, in Shreveport, Louisiana to the late Curtis F. Roberson Sr. and Robbie O. Roberson. He was one of ten children.

He attended Booker T. Washington High School and graduated in 1954. Shortly after graduating, he moved to California where his aunt lived. Leroy enlisted in the United States Army on May 12, 1960, and faithfully served his country for six years.

Leroy married Catherine Ray and together they were blessed with two children, Sonya Hearn and Leroy Roberson, Jr. Catherine preceded him in death on November 27, 1996. Together, they shared 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Leroy worked for Rockwell, which is now known as Boeing for 35 years and retired at the age of 55 as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer. On May 29, 1999, Leroy married Thelma, and together they built a loving and devoted marriage. Together, Leroy and Thelma enjoyed traveling across the country for as long as six weeks at a time and attending marriage retreats. Through this union, Leroy lovingly embraced four additional adult children and nine grandchildren.

following their marriage, Leroy became an active member of the Palmdale Church of Christ, where he faithfully served as an elder. He deeply loved his church family and remained steadfast in his walk with Christ.

Through his journey of 89 years, Leroy touched many lives with his wisdom, willingness to give, and an unwavering spirit of perseverance. Driven by an endless thirst for knowledge, Leroy was a lifelong learner and a devoted teacher. He had a deep passion for teaching the word of God. This spirit which characterized his life was reflected in the lessons he earnestly imparted to those around him leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Curtis F. Roberson Sr. and Robbie O. Roberson and his first wife, Catherine Ray; one brother, Curtis, Jr.; four sisters, Johnnie, Ruth, Violet, Margaret, Fannie and Tyrone, son of Thelma.

Roberson, Almon Roberson and David Roberson; and three additional children, Johnny, Cindy and Jerome whom he embraced as family. He will be sadly missed by Ronnie, whom he mentored and helped lead him to a closer walk with Christ, along with nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of dear friends. His remarkable life will forever serve as an inspiration and a testament to the power of God.
