Larry Darnell Smith Jr was born in Newark New Jersey on May 31, 1980 to Larry Darnell Smith Sr and Ramona Matthews Smith. Ramona, Larry and his sister Quintella moved to California in 1986. His mother Ramona quickly got a job at The Jewish Home for the Aging following in the foot steps of his grandmother Elmina Smith. Larry attended and graduated from El Camino Real High School. Soon after he would join the work force. It wasn't until he started working for JHA that he found his second family. He absolutely loved it there. He was the third generation of Smiths to walk those halls. He always had a smile, a kind word or a joke ready at all times. If positivity had a face, it is his. Then one dark day in 2023 he was diagnosed with Leukemia and even that news didn't dull his shine. He was gonna beat it Fo Sho! He continued to work hard at JHA, hang with Jesse on the weekends, video his work out regimen and spread sunshine and love. He stayed optimistic and hopeful. When he was told that he was being referred to hospice, he said "naw, I gotta keep pushin fam"! He put up a valiant fight til the last day. He was comfortably sleeping when God whispered, " well done son, come home". He leaves to mourn him his sister Quintella Smith, Leanetha Pustay, Carolyn & George Bishop, Vivian & Lee Johnson, Willie Lewis & Brenda Smith, Edward Smith, Sherice & Arthur Pruitt, Tara & Bryan Jacquet, Morgan Sabrina Lee, Ryan Jacquet, Jesse Hernandez & family, Theodore Cagalawan, Olivia, Big Dave, E man, Woody, Rick , Rawley, and a host of cousins and friends.
