In Loving Memory of Gordon Samuel Randolph

Training and Transition

"And the child Samuel grew in stature, and in favor both with YHWH and men." — 1 Samuel 2:26

The life of Gordon Samuel Randolph began in Chicago, Illinois, where he was born to Gordon Samuel Randolph, Sr. and Betty Jean Randolph. Shortly thereafter, the family relocated to California, where they resided with his grandmother, Peggy Hill, while establishing their new roots.

Gordon attended Pacoima Elementary School, Charles Maclay Junior High School, and later graduated from Granada Hills High School. During his youth, he developed a love for baseball and excelled at the sport. Yet, it was his natural talent and passion for automobiles that would become one of his defining gifts. Following in the footsteps of his father, Gordon wore many hats under the family business. He worked as a licensed car salesman, a delivery driver for G&G Delivery Service, a tow truck driver, and a skilled mechanic. His strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit became hallmarks of his character throughout his life.

After graduation, Gordon and his childhood sweetheart Colby went their separate ways, each carrying the hope that one day their paths would cross again. During this season of life, Gordon answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army. Through dedication, perseverance, and leadership, Gordon rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6) and served honorably as a Motor Transport Supervisor. During these years, he was blessed with three beloved children—Steven, Denise, and Russell—whom he loved deeply and took great pride in raising.

A Promise Fulfilled & A Shared Faith

After faithfully serving his nation for twenty years, Gordon retired from military service and returned home to California. In 2008, through Yahweh's divine providence, he was reunited with the love of his youth. What began as a rekindled friendship blossomed into the fulfillment of a promise long held in both their hearts. Surrounded by family and friends, they were married in September 2009, beginning a new chapter built upon love, faith, and devotion. Together, they embarked upon a deeper spiritual journey, discovering Yahweh on a more profound level and gaining a greater understanding of His purpose for their lives. Their shared faith became the cornerstone of their marriage and strengthened a bond that had endured through the years.

Gordon fulfilled lifelong dreams and created countless treasured memories alongside his beloved wife Colby. Together, they traveled throughout the United States and abroad, explored new places, enjoyed low-riding adventures, and cherished precious moments with their children, grandchildren, family, and friends. Gordon found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved cooking for those he cared about, never turned down a good taco, and enjoyed cheering on his favorite sports teams. While he appreciated the Los Angeles Lakers, his true loyalty belonged to the Denver Broncos, whom he faithfully supported through the years.

Whether traveling, sharing meals with loved ones, celebrating milestones, or simply enjoying everyday moments, Gordon embraced life with gratitude and purpose. Above all, he was happiest sharing life's journey with his wife, building a legacy of love, faith, laughter, and togetherness that will endure for generations to come.

A Lasting Legacy

Gordon was far more than a husband. He was a devoted son, loving father, proud grandfather, cherished brother, beloved uncle, loyal friend, dedicated soldier, and faithful companion. He was a source of strength, wisdom, and encouragement to all who knew him. Whether serving his country, supporting his family, or simply being there for others, Gordon lived a life rooted in faith, love, and service. Though his earthly journey has ended, the memories he created and the legacy of love, integrity, and devotion he leaves behind will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.

The Good Soldier

"Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier..."— 2 Timothy 2:3

These words hold special meaning for those who have borne the weight of service. As a soldier, Gordon accepted the responsibility of protecting his nation and willingly sacrificed for the safety and well-being of others. His life reflected courage, selflessness, and unwavering dedication to duty.

The Enlisted

"No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier." — 2 Timothy 2:4

Throughout his twenty-year military career, Gordon traveled the world while faithfully serving his country. His assignments took him to Germany, South Korea, Colorado, and numerous other locations. He served during Operation Desert Storm and participated in several missions that remain undisclosed. Gordon exemplified the very best qualities of military leadership. He understood that success depended not only on mission accomplishment but also on the morale and well-being of those under his charge. He was the leader who looked out for others, offered guidance when needed, and inspired confidence through both word and action.

The Call to Duty

"Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself." — Philippians 2:3

Those who served alongside him remember a man who was approachable, dependable, and committed to excellence. His leadership promoted productivity, purpose, and unity among those entrusted to his care. His familiar phrase, "So noted," reflected a man who listened carefully and took action thoughtfully. Words alone cannot fully capture a life of service, sacrifice, and honor. Yet today, with gratitude and respect, we offer these words:
