On Friday, July 24, 2026 at 2:30 p.m. the Lord called Elnora Brouchét, a radiant soul who filled every room with joy, kindness, and laughter, at the age of 95. Her life was a beautiful tapestry of deep faith, dedication to family, and a love of celebration.

"Born on March 22, 1931, in Crowley, Louisiana, Elnora was the second daughter of 11 children born to the late Isaac Sr. and Beatrice Thorns. Her spiritual foundation was laid early when she was baptized at St. Joseph Baptist Church. A bright and motivated young woman, she graduated from Crowley Industrial High School in 1948 and briefly attended Leland College.

In 1949, Elnora married the love of her life, Eugene Brouchét. Together, they embraced a new chapter as Elnora converted to Catholicism and the couple moved west to Los Angeles. In the 1960s, they planted deep roots in the San Fernando Valley, purchasing a home where they raised their five cherished children: Lucinda, Reneen, Jeanie, Steven, and Gregory.

Elnora dedicated 25 years of hard work as a custodian for the Los Angeles Unified School District. She was a passionate believer in the power of knowledge, constantly encouraging her children and grandchildren to pursue higher education and extend their learning. She was also a devoted, long-time member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Pacoima, California, where she nurtured her deep faith and love for Christianity.

Beyond her sharp mind, Elnora possessed an outgoing, adventurous personality that inspired everyone around her. She loved to see the world, embarking on countless family vacations, retreats with friends, and overseas cruises with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was a woman of many talents who found pure joy in reading, sewing, cooking, and dancing. Elnora never let age slow her down; she was tech-savvy enough to manage her personal business on her computer at age 90, and she was still happily partying and dancing with family and friends at age 95.

She has now gone on to meet the "Father," reunited in heaven with her beloved husband Eugene; her parents; her children, Jeanie and Gregory; her sisters, Louise, Winnie Lee, Meredith and Margaret; and her brothers, Clemon and Isaac.

Elnora's bright spirit lives on in her four surviving siblings: Bennie Thorns Jenkins, Willie Thorns, Ruth Thorns Hawkins, and Patsy Bea Thorns. Her incredible legacy of love and laughter will be carried forward by her nine grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to all their relatives and friends for the overwhelming love, prayers, and support during this time."
