Delvin H.
McFarlane Sr.
December 19, 1955 – April 17, 2025
Delvin Hugh Donald McFarlane Sr. was born on December 19, 1955, in Belize City, Belize to Walter McFarlane Sr. and Melva McFarlane. He was raised as a Seventh Day Adventist. Delvin and his siblings grew up in Rock Stone Pond, Belize. He attended Lucky Strike School and Kings College in Rock Stone Pond. He also graduated from Belize Technical College in Belize City. He was part of several football teams in Belize but famously known for J&E football club as a defensive player and team captain. He was a great football player. He was affectionately known as “Rammy”, “RamGoat”, “Pipi”, “Grumps”, “Big Man”, and “Del”. He worked for the Belize City Post Office as a clerk until he migrated to the United States.
Delvin migrated to the United States in 1977. He married his wife Hannah on October 26, 1987, in Pacoima, California and raised their family in Mission Hills, California. Delvin worked as a lab technician for Superior Industries for thirty-five years, a sales specialist at AutoZone, and an insurance specialist with Bankers Life until his retirement in 2010. When Delvin retired, he found time to watch all the sports he wanted, plant in his garden, bake bread, cook and post on Facebook for all to envy. He loved making fry jacks and liver for breakfast; Oxtail with rice and beans for dinner and the 123 on Sundays. “Everything else was foolishness”. He also enjoyed making potato pone, his favorite dessert, but nothing beat lite cake and rum raisin ice cream. He was successful at several things in his garden: grapes, strawberries, mangos and cabbage as well as herbs and teas.
Delvin always had something to keep him going daily; his birds, his turtles and family dogs Chocolate, Beau, Mimi and Pebbles. Nobody enjoyed watching baseball, football and soccer more than Delvin. His favorite teams were the Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Rams. He loved LA!!! He celebrated every championship with pride. He made sure his sons and grandsons played baseball, soccer, basketball and football. He enjoyed helping them improve their skills and watching them play weekly during the season. He was an amazing and supportive husband, father and papa.
Delvin loved his traditional Belizean music. His Saturdays were filled with Belize radio mix by Will Johnson. His Sundays were filled with the Super Furia Band. He enjoyed traveling and never passed up a road trip as long as he was the driver. He became an expert Temu shopper in the past few years. He gave out a pair of Nikes with the Nike sign reversed and thought nobody would notice. He did follow up with some great charging station gifts, which was a success.
At the age of sixty-nine Delvin departed this life on April 17th, 2025, in Mission Hills, California unexpectedly. He will always be loved and remembered by his wife Hannah; Daughter Risa (Ulysses Clayton), Delvin Jr (Jovanca); Daughter Cheryl McFarlane; Son Devin McFarlane; Grandsons; Jeremiah and Jacob Clayton; Mother Melva McFarlane; two sisters, Barbara Spence (Ronald), Cherry Mena (Pedro); two brothers Elroy McFarlane and Paul McFarlane (Keianna); his Aunt Sadie Ashley; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his father Walter, Delvin was preceded in death by three brothers Desmond McFarlane; Walter McFarlane Jr (Callie), Michael McFarlane Sr. and one sister Delvorine Wallace. Delvin’s body will no longer be with us, but his spirit will live forever through each and every one of us.
